The Prologis Benefits Resources app received a prestigious Gold Quill Award of Merit in Digital Communications from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The app is currently available for all U.S. Prologis employees and their dependents. To date, over 1,000 Prologis team members and their dependents have downloaded it from iTunes or Google’s app store.
For more than 40 years, the IABC Gold Quill Awards have recognized excellence in strategic communications worldwide. The awards program is regarded as one of the most prestigious in the communications industry. Winners are chosen from all over the world, representing a cross section of public and private sector organizations of all sizes, and the 2018 playing field was competitive with almost 700 entries. Each entry is reviewed rigorously by a global panel of experienced communicators. “Only exceptional work earns an IABC Gold Quill Award,” said Cindy Schmieg ABC, IABC fellow, chair of the awards committee.
The Prologis HR benefits team helped create the app in collaboration with Willis Towers Watson and Pier 2 Marketing. According to Lou Conte, Prologis’ director of benefits and payroll, the biggest challenge around benefits is communication: “It is extremely difficult to deliver benefits information in a simple and understandable format.” Lou went on to say, “It has always been challenging to communicate all of that information because it was located in multiple places. Even more difficult was getting the word out to dependents who are on the plan. We decided to create an app so everyone had one place to go to find their benefits.” In addition to traditional benefits, Prologis offers a wide range of webinars, as well as work-life and financial benefit tools via the app.
The app’s home screen allows users to navigate health benefits, work-life, financial and news modules. The app links to a microsite that shows all benefit plan details. In talking about the finished product, Lou said, “It is a really innovative tool and something that not many other companies have.”
“This award recognizes the best of the best in business communications,” said Ryan Patschke, a senior director at Willis Towers Watson. “Receiving this award means Prologis’ benefit communication practices are among the best in the world.”
To continue building on this success, Prologis will release the app for employees in offices outside of the U.S. in conjunction with the annual Healthy Steps Challenge. Participants will be able to use Prologis Benefits Resources to enroll, track steps and communicate with other team members.
