In 2018, workers at a UK Prologis logistics park gave feedback that they wished they had space near their workplace where they could enjoy wildlife and fresh air on their breaks. That simple request from a customer’s employee spurred our team to get creative and the Prologis PARKlife program was born.
Today, PARKlife – now a global initiative – provides spaces and on-site programs to support our customers and their employees in valuable ways that go beyond the real estate.
PARKlife spaces are diverse. Some are centered around public art, others around sports and health. Some focus on supporting biodiversity and wildlife near our parks, while others focus on employee amenities like cafeterias and wellness rooms.
Here’s a snapshot of PARKlife spaces around the globe.
In the United Kingdom, many parks incorporate green spaces which are open to the public and provide employees with the opportunity to walk, run or cycle during breaktimes or after work. PARKlife spaces today can include large scale nature reserves, trim trails with exercise equipment and bicycle maintenance stations. Local UK government leaders have expressed appreciation for the differentiated offering and contributions to the community.

In Lodi, Italy, 40,000 square meters of vertical walls and water reservoirs were transformed into public art through the work of eight internationally renowned Italian urban artists. Further upgrades of the park will include an installation of green and recreational spaces and thoughtful shaded areas designed for rest and relaxation for employees and visitors. In Le Havre, France, Parc du Hode introduced its first pétanque court – a common French outdoor game. The newly opened area was celebrated with an event that brought together the Prologis Customer Experience Team and our French customers to compete in friendly pétanque matches.
Just outside Madrid, Spain, Prologis Park Alcalá installed Padel Courts to host friendly tournaments among employees. The park also hosts events like a running club, nutritional workshops, and frequent volunteer opportunities like food drives and blood donation campaigns.
Recreational areas inside Prologis Park, Hungary, Prologis Park Prague-Rudna, Czech Republic or Prologis Park Łódź, Poland offer opportunities for customers to host football tournaments – a coveted customer tradition since 2014.
Prologis parks in Seattle, Washington (U.S.) are home to more than 37,000 honeybees. Just outside of Paris, France, beehives help collect information that measures the quality of biodiversity on a given site. In both locations, the honey is harvested and shared with customers. In Poland, it’s not uncommon to find hedgehogs around our sites. Our local teams have built and installed 25 hedgehog homes to house the protected species over the winter.

In Japan’s Park Yachiyo I, the local Prologis team designed the cafeteria to bring in elements of biophilia to increase employee connectivity to the natural environment. Our customers tell us that the ping-pong tables enhance their employee’s experience, encourage personal well-being and foster camaraderie.
In parks across Mexico, free libraries encourage employees to share, donate and exchange books. They also have sports and recreation areas with courts, fields and barbecues where employees host fútbol (soccer), basketball and volleyball tournaments as well as other team building events. Additionally, in Brazil, a free bike-sharing system connects employees to different buildings within the park.
