Prologis helps automotive customer achieve 5x increase in fulfillment speed and more.

Challenge

Premium Guard, a leading aftermarket automotive filtration company, needed to scale their warehouse operations quickly after being awarded new business contracts. Their warehouse needs went from 200,000 to 600,000 square feet. The expansion also required an increase from 14,000 to 50,000 pallet positions, and shipping demand rose from 50,000 to 250,000 units per day. Failure to make the transition on time would prevent Premium Guard from serving their customers successfully and potentially affect the new contracts.

“The Essentials team served as sort of an ‘industrial concierge’ in helping us get everything we needed in a timely manner to become fully operational on deadline. The delivery manager’s drive for results with dates and meeting expectations is the best I have worked with in 20 years.”
  Byron, Premium Guard

Solution

The Prologis Essentials team helped Premium Guard view their warehousing logistics and infrastructure needs holistically to maximize cost savings and reduce the time required to make the extensive transition. The team proposed a comprehensive turnkey solution that included racking, lighting, utility carts, material handling and docking doors with a streamlined implementation process to minimize downtime. This enabled Premium Guard to focus on what matterskeeping their customers happy.

Implementation

Prologis Essentials implemented over 50,000 pallet positions of structural steel rackingincluding deconstruction, transportation and reconstructionwhich were completed three months ahead of expectations. Throughout the warehouse and office spaces, 660 new LED fixtures were installed and extensive electrical work was completed. Prologis also worked to find creative ways to patch, repair and reuse existing materials to meet Premium Guard’s needs for docking doors, resulting in cost savings and a significant reduction in time compared to competitor quotes.

Results

Throughout the entire process, [Prologis] minimized complexity and kept us on track. In addition to the cost savings, their guidance reduced complexity by providing a single point of contact for managing the entire project, a far cry from the seven contacts we would have had to work with otherwise.”
