Dongguan, China, is a large, densely populated city, nestled between the dynamic economic powerhouses of Shenzhen and Guangzhou on the Pearl River Delta. Forty-seven miles by water from Hong Kong, Dongguan has a population of about 8.3 million.
While less prosperous than neighboring cities, Dongguan is an important industrial, logistics and distribution center. Highways and railroads connect Dongguan to major population and trade centers, such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Beijing. Dongguan’s Port of Humen allows logistics companies to send goods to Hong Kong via the Pearl River.
Economic activity in Dongguan is split almost evenly between services and industry. Key local industries include machinery, textiles, furniture, electronics and food processing. Dongguan’s economy is heavily driven by small and medium export-reliant enterprises, many of which use the region’s industrial properties and warehouses.
Prologis operates industrial warehouses in Dongguan and has available properties throughout the Dongguan area.
