As part of CREW’s 30th year of supporting and advancing women in commercial real estate, April 25 marked CREW’s national Bring a Girl to Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Day. This event encourages members of the CREW Network to bring a girl (or girls) to introduce them to the world of commercial real estate as a possible career path.
This year Prologis and CREW Las Vegas partnered together for the first time and held a special event to support Bring a Girl to CRE Day—and to great success: 13 girls ranging in age from 7 to 15 attended the event.
The event began with a tour of the complex where Prologis’ office is located. The girls enjoyed getting to know one another during lunch and shared their career aspirations. After lunch, there was a short presentation titled, “What is Commercial Real Estate?” during which four women active in the industry discussed everything from development and property management to brokerage and marketing. The speakers also shared how they got started in the industry and what it is like to be a woman in the commercial real estate sector.
“After the event, two of the girls were looking out of the Prologis office window at a construction site down below,” said Prologis leasing manager Renee Carroll. “We overheard them talking about the construction of the building and what kind of development was going to be built. They even used that word—‘development!’“
