There are ‘3Cs’ that describe what we value and how we work. The third C, Culture and Talent, fuels our ability to deliver on the other two, Customer Centricity and Change through Innovation. We work hard to nurture a culture that continuously develops the talent that fuels our success (our people are our secret sauce!).

Finding the best and the brightest of tomorrow means creating relationships with those who are teaching them today!

Our plan to do this begins with:

  • Increasing the visibility of the commercial real estate industry to college and university students.
  • Strengthening our relationships with higher education institutions.
  • Ensuring that students have access to high-quality programs that teach them the skills they need to succeed in our industry.

Last month, we hosted leaders of real estate institutes and centers from 14 universities at our company headquarters for the 2024 Collegiate Real Estate Leadership Forum. The four-day summit provided a space for these leaders to strategize on educating the next generation of real estate professionals. It was exciting to meet the leaders, who brought a wealth of knowledge and experience. The institutions included:

  • Brandeis University
  • Chapman University
  • Florida State University
  • Georgia State University
  • Marquette University
  • Morehouse College
  • Roosevelt University
  • Santa Clara University
  • Texas Tech University
  • University of Calgary
  • University of Colorado Boulder
  • University of Florida
  • University of Notre Dame
  • Virginia Tech

Building New Connections

Prologis did more than just host; we acted as a catalyst for meaningful connections between leaders, showcasing trends in the commercial real estate industry and providing real estate programs with the resources to educate their students.

Our CEO Hamid Moghadam and President Dan Letter joined discussions with academic leaders to learn what they need from the private sector to support student development, specifically focusing on our company and our programs. Chief Energy and Sustainability Officer Susan Uthayakumar shared a glimpse into our innovative energy and sustainability efforts. We also shared information about functional talent development practices; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging opportunities; and our Community Workforce Initiative.

We welcomed JLL’s CTO Yao Morin to our headquarters for a Q&A session about technology, AI and skillsets that future talent will need to keep pace with new innovations. We were also pleased to have Ryan Neale, managing director at BISNOW, for a presentation on the latest hiring trends and data.

Beyond this event, we are continuing to find avenues to partner with these institutions. Last year, we donated $3 million to the Morehouse Real Estate Institute. This year, we are continuing our charitable efforts by contributing to each program represented at this year’s Collegiate Real Estate Forum. Through our support, we can help enhance curriculum frameworks, subsidize membership fees for student organizations, sponsor guest lecturers and more. We also plan to host webinars every semester designed to extend networking and learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

This initiative enables us to:

  1. Build meaningful and lasting relationships with senior administrators of top tier real estate programs that distinguishes us from all other companies.
  2. Create our own student network by donating to the student groups of participating institutions to engage directly with students.
  3. Further invest in the success of the Morehouse Real Estate Institute by connecting leaders to a network of institutions.

Truly, the talent of the future is in the classrooms of today. Prologis prides ourselves on staying ahead of what’s next and we know the work we’re doing with these academic real estate programs will help make our industry stronger, which we know will yield benefits for years to come.

A special thank you to Andy Hunt, director at Vieth Institute for Real Estate Leadership, Marquette University, and Jeff Hardy, executive director of the Real Estate Institute, Santa Clara University, for their essential roles in coordinating the gathering of real estate directors.
